New Year

Happy New Year!!!

I know some people think making resolutions for the new year is a silly tradition.  I for one am always trying to improve myself, so I like to set goals and make plans on how I can be better.  I think some resolutions are cliche, and yet they are still on my long list, like eat better and work out more.  I hope to meal plan and try new recipes this year.  I would love to be more organized in my home and better at time management.

However, if I had to simplify down to just one resolution it would be:
I think too often I focus on what is going on for others and forget the wonderful blessings surrounding me in my life.  If I stop comparing, I think I will be more present in my life.  And I really want to refocus this year on JOY.

*Update since my original post.

Today I found blog where the writer inspires me.  In this new year I really want to read more from people that help me want to better myself.  Melanie over at Only a Breath is doing a link up for one word to really shape your new year.  And like I said above, I want JOY to be my focus.  Melanie generously created a button for me that I added to my sidebar.  Now whenever I look at my blog this year, I will see that word and remember I am focusing on the JOY in my life and try not to let anything steal that focus away from me.  I cannot wait to see how joyful this year will be.

Have you made any resolutions for the new year?    What is your word for 2013?

Shelly- I love how you have intentionally picked joy to be your focus...and you've already discovered the obstacle which can be comparison...thanks for that reminder...I need to be on the alert for those joy snatchers! My word for this year is DESIRE...I desire to see God in fresh ways and walk delighting in His ways this year. Here's to the new year!

Joy is my word for 2013 as well! I have been guilty of the comparison game as well. Last year my word was CONTENT and it really helped me avoid comparing myself to others. I haven't completely mastered it and I allow the enemy to try to rob me of my joy and contentment at times. But I have found that battling him with God's word is the best thing to do!
May God show you a greater joy than you have ever seen before!
