Auntie Rie's Visit

We had so much fun with Auntie Rie visiting.  We wish we could see her more often.  Ryan really loved playing with her.  Maybe someday we'll be able to live closer...

2-17 CAV Task Force Out Front Formal

Last night was the 2-17 CAV Task Force Out Front formal.  Pat and I were lucky to have the best babysitter in the world here to take care of Ryan.  I won't say it was a very fun night, but we got some good photos at least :)

Chaos

Last night we had a good few minutes of chaos here.  Around 1 a.m. a loud thunderstorm rolled through our area.  Because our house is positioned on an empty field along with the fact that the weather usually rolls in from the field, it seems our house always gets slammed.  Pat and I jumped awake to Abbey and Bailey barking as hail pelted our house (yes, Sammy was sleeping and didn't care to get out of bed).  Less than a minute later, Ryan was startled awake and crying.  Pat ran to get Ryan while I threw my sweats on.   We contemplated putting Ryan in our bed while the storm was going on, but we know better than that.  Ryan is NOT a cuddly child and does not understand laying down anywhere but in his crib.  Ryan was totally ready to play and start the day at that point.  The storm only lasted a couple of minutes before it was gone, and everything returned to its quiet state.  Thankfully it wasn't too long before I put Ryan back to bed, and we returned to our slumber.  Pat snapped a couple photos of the hail on our back deck. This is what we got in the 3 minutes the storm raged outside our house.

The End of an Era

Today is the first day in 14.5 months that I did not nurse Ryan.  It is a very sad and emotional day for me.  I knew it was time, but it is still hard to accept.  I've been weaning Ryan since Pat came home, and tonight I cut out his last feeding (bedtime).  Next Saturday Pat and I have a formal to go to.  We are very lucky that my sister is flying out to watch Ryan for us, and I knew I wouldn't be able to nurse him that night, so we decided to complete the weaning process.  I am proud that I breast fed for 14.5 months, but I also knew that no matter when I ended, it would be hard.  Ryan has adjusted really well, and by next weekend he'll hopefully go to bed really easily for his Auntie Rie.  As I re-read what I've already typed, I don't think my words convey how hard this is for me. I cried last night after putting him to sleep because I realized that I will probably never nurse my little boy again.  It really is the end of an era...

On a separate note, today is Valentine's Day!  Happy Valentine's day everyone!  It was pretty much a regular day here in our house.  I'm such a bad wife because I didn't buy Pat a gift.  I did make him Oreo Truffles and cooked a dinner that he really likes.  Pat on the other hand is a generous and caring husband.  He bought me a whole cake decorating set.  The other weekend we were walking around Hobby Lobby just exploring all the cool things they have.  When we got to the baking supplies aisle, I mentioned how I've always wanted cake decorating tools because I fantasize about being a good cake decorator.  So Pat remembered me saying that and bought me a very perfect gift.  I look forward to trying new things with it in the near future.  If I'm able to make anything nice, I'll definitely post some photos on the blog.  Now I'm off to cuddle on the couch with Pat and our dogs and watch some tv from our DVR.  I hope you are all having a very loved day!

At The Park

I'm pretty far behind on updating this blog and having a hard time getting back into it.  So I'll start off easy with a mostly picture post.  This past weekend we had gorgeous weather here. We decided to take Ryan to the park.  The playground was packed so instead we went walking around the large field by the river.  Here are some photos from that day:

A Photo Introduction

I love reading blogs.  Sometimes I click from one person's blog to another person's and so on until I don't even know whose blog I am reading.  Do you do that too?  I've even found some blogs of strangers that I thoroughly enjoy and go back to check up on every so often.  Is that weird?

So in case there are any people out there like me, here is a little photo introduction to the characters of my blog.
My Hubby, Pat, and our kissy-face beagle, Bailey.

My son, Ryan, crawling through our doggie door.

Our pug, Sammy.  He isn't fat; he's just a bit lazy.

Our pretty girl, Abbey.  She loves to play...and bark.

And a last little photo of me with Ryan.

Super Bowl Sunday

Today is Super Bowl Sunday, which means very little to me.  However, since we are having some company over for the game I'm cooking it up in the kitchen this morning.  Our appetizer menu includes:
Buffalo Dip
Chili Dip
Pizza Wreath
and Chocolate Peanut Butter Pudding Pie for dessert...yummy!

Hopefully the food will be good because I'm not all that interested in the football.
